Georgia Tech vs. North Carolina FREE NCAA Football Pick

North Carolina will have their hands full going against Georgia Tech as they look to avenge last year’s embarrassing loss. So much so that the defense has taken special practices just to align themselves against the strength of the Georgia Tech Squad. In this match up, we’ll see two top teams battling it out, and while there is a favorite, the college football landscape can easily shift.

Current line: Georgia Tech – 6 ½ / Over & Under at 60 ½

Time:  Saturday, September 21, 12:00 pm (EST) ESPN, WatchEspn.com

The Tar Heels are 1 – 1 this season and will have to rely heavily on their defense to show up, unlike last year, where they seem to have gone missing for the game. Their loss last week really hurt, with the offense going out and delivering 50 points, and still managed to lose out. Georgia Tech on the other hand is 2 – 0 and they are definitely not the same team they were last year. They are poised to go into the game and just roll over North Carolina, especially if the defense isolates the arsenal with ease.

Georgia Tech’s newest formations are the things that you will have to definitely watch out for. They seemed to have success with the Pistol and even a diamond shift that caught Duke off guard and forced them to miss out on some amazing scoring. UNC is going to have to play a perfect game if they want to take out a much heavier handed team like Georgia Tech this time around, and though preparations have been going on all week, they haven’t quite settled into their groove just yet.

Vlad Lee’s performance against Duke is still being talked about in the press, and he’s going to have to play the same way, if not better this week. On the other hand, North Carolina looks solid overall, and even if the rankings aren’t favored here, they are still dangerous on both sides of the ball.

The Match Up:

It will be an interesting balancing act on either side of the ball with this one, but look for Georgia Tech to bring out the heavy guns in the first quarter and try to shock the North Carolina into back peddling and trying to catch up later on in the game. It’s the strength of their offense and solid defensive talent that is going to make them a favorite, which is why we have to go with the favored team here. Look for Georgia Tech to continue their winning credentials here, as we give them – 6 ½.

The Edge

Georgia Tech – 6 ½
