“Both of the teams in this matchup can throw the ball effectively, which is what the vast majority of the play calls will be on Monday night,” Simmons noted.  “The Colts may have a slight edge in the run game with Trent Richardson, but the real advantage comes on the defensive side of the ball where the Chargers are below average, and the Colts are among the best in the league.”

But Simmons was quick to point out that San Diego can be a dangerous team.

"Philip Rivers has performed better than many people expected him to so far this season as he already has accumulated over 1,600 passing yards and is completing 74 percent of his passing attempts. Rivers is leading an offense that averages 25 points per game."

Still, the Colts are an even more dangerous team when it comes to passing with Andrew Luck completing 62 percent of his passes and has thrown just two interceptions.

“The great decision making of Luck has helped the Colts get quite a few victories this season as they have been involved in quite a few close victories,” Simmons points out.

It will be interesting to see how Indianapolis plays here as next weekend’s showdown against Peyton Manning in Indianapolis may have this team looking ahead.

Mike Wilkerning of The Linesmakers notes that the Colts' offense appears to have a significant edge over the Chargers' defense, which is 32nd in yards per play allowed, 27th in passing yards given up and 24th in rushing yards surrendered.

The Colts are balanced on offense, attempting 159 passes (excluding sacks) and 151 rushes, Wilkening adds.

80 percent of the betting public is on Indy for Monday Night’s matchup.
