The home team is 10-0 in this series coming into Monday. In fact, Toronto is 2-12 in the last 14 meetings in Houston. Six of the last ten in the series have gone OVER 8.5.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays RH Marcus Stroman (8-4, 4.92 ERA) vs. Astros RH Doug Fister (10-7, 3.73)

The OVER is 8-3 in Stroman’s last 11 starts overall.  The 25-year-old was reached for five runs in three frames in his only prior encounter with the Astros two years ago in Houston.

In four of Stoman’s last five road games, he has allowed four or more runs.  Four of those road games have gone OVER the current total.

Fister won his first two games after the All-Star break before getting hammered for six runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings of a loss to the New York Yankees last Tuesday.  He has not permitted more than three runs in seven of his last ten games.  Fister is 2-2 with a 4.01 ERA in six lifetime starts versus Toronto.

We really like Houston here as a +112 dog.

RA Dickey, who starts for Toronto on Tuesday, has struggled his last few starts with six of his last ten starts concluding with total runs scored in 9 or more runs.

He has allowed the Astros to hit 31 off of 87 at bats with four home runs.

Lance McCullers (6-4) struck out 10 while holding the Yankees to a single run on five hits and two walks over six sharp innings in Wednesday's 4-1 win. (Wed Jul 27)

He has allowed no more than a single run in each of his last three starts, stretching out to just over 19 innings.   He has permitted no more than one run in five of his last six starts.  That is pretty impressive.

If Dickey were not so desperate for a win we’d be all over Houston again here, not to mention McCullers is priced high at -155.

On Thursday, 33-year-old JA Happ will start for Toronto.  He put together his best month of what has been a career season, going 4-0, surrendering only five earned runs, and notching 42 strikeouts in 31.1 innings over five starts.

DR Congo has 1 point and likely needs a win to have a realistic shot at advancing as a third-place team. Uzbekistan has 0 points and must win to stay alive. A draw probably eliminates Uzbekistan and likely does very little for DR Congo.
