PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels RH Jered Weaver (1-4, 4.98 ERA) vs. Orioles LH Wei-Yin Chen (1-1, 2.52)
Weaver has struggled on the road this season and he also just happens to be coming off an impressive win, his first complete game since last May. He has allowed no less than six hits in all four of his road starts this season.
Weaver is 7-4 with a 3.46 ERA in 12 all-time starts against Baltimore. Adam Jones (7-for-23, two homers) and Delmon Young (7-for-18) have enjoyed success against Weaver for all you daily fantasy enthusiasts out there.
Prior to his last start, the Angels permitted 5 or more runs in four of their previous five games where Weaver started.
Chen hasn’t faced the Angels since his rookie season in 2012, when he went 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA in two turns against them. He also enjoyed his first victory his last outing.
Three of the last six games Chen started in have gone OVER the current total of 8.5.
Chen has a sharp 2.52 ERA and 27:12 K:BB ratio through six starts and 35.2 innings, and his fourth quality start of the season.
He’s pitched six or more innings in his last three starts and, following that last win, G911 sees Chen letting his guard down a bit.
Between Weaver’s poor road performance and Chen likely being more loose in this game (and probably pitching no more than 6 innings), we like the OVER 8.5 here.
