Week 6 Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas has begun to putter out just a bit following a fiery start.  The Razorbacks are now 3-2 Straight Up and 2-3 Against The Spread coming into this game.

The Hogs have beaten Mississippi State in the last two meetings, though the Bulldogs were victorious in the prior three.

This week marks the first time the Bulldogs (4-1, 1-1) have been in the Top 25 since Sept. 27, 2020.

The line on this game was especially fluid, having shot up from Bulldogs -6.5 to -9.5.

That line move in Miss State's favor is a result of the injury to Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson.  He was hit in the head last week during the loss to Alabama and was replaced by Cade Fortin.  Jefferson missed some early week practice sessions but joined the team on the field Wednesday.  He's also traveling with them to Mississippi State.

Whether he is healthy enough to actually play is anybody's guess.  The line movement suggests gamblers think he won't be.

“KJ practiced today,” Hogs head coach Sam Pittman said on his radio show. “I don’t know what that means, to be perfectly honest with you. He still has a ways to go on that. We’re certainly not going to play him unless he’s capable and healthy and all those type things.”

He added: “We’re going to take him on the trip. Whether he plays or not still waiting to be seen. We’ve got a few more days to figure some of that out.”

Even with a full healthy Jefferson, we get a number of 4.06.  The opening 6.5 was a 2.5 overlay and has moved to a 5.5 overlay.
