Veepstakes Decision Made: Governor Walz Will Be Harris Running Mate
Tuesday was supposed to be the day.
Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris promised us her selection for running mate in the hotly contested U.S. presidential race with former president Donald Trump the GOP nominee.
Harris confirmed just before 9 am ET she had made her decision. And it is Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
Last we checked, Walz had moved to 2-1 odds while Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro came down off of -400 to -250.
BetOnline has kept their VP odds off the board over the last 16 hours.
CNN first reported the selection on Tuesday. It comes as Harris seeks to solidify her position against Trump, who has already named Senator JD Vance (R-OH) as his running mate, and the Democratic National Convention’s confirmation of her as nominee.
Meanwhile, Harris has moved into minus status (-105) although Trump remains the favorite at -125.
Bet on the Debate
Currently BetOnline is offering odds on the number of debates between Harris and Trump with one priced at -165 as the favorite, zero comes in at +150 and two or more would pay out $500 for every $100 bet.
A previously agreed upon debate has been scheduled for Sept. 10 on ABC and Harris has already said she will appear regardless of whether or not Trump shows. The former president has indicated he plans on backing out.
He posted on Truth Social on Friday that the agreement he had made with Biden was “terminated” because “Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network …. thereby creating a conflict of interest.”
It should be noted that Trump’s lawsuit against ABC — concerning anchor George Stephanopoulos’ saying Trump had been found “liable for rape” — was filed in March, weeks before he agreed to the ABC debate.
Trump or Biden were also just the defacto nominees at the time they agreed on the debate specifics.
