Rick Santorum Against Online Gambling: ‘Dangerous for Our Country’ (Video)

Last week when it was learned the US Republican Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum came out against legalized online gambling, this appeared to be a nonissue.  After all, candidate Mitt Romney already had the nomination “in the bag” with Newt Gingrich “that other guy” who “might be standing in the way with his Southern states stronghold”.

Of course this all changed rather dramatically after Tuesday night’s Republican caucuses in three states.  Santorum won all three.  In fact, Texas Congressman Ron Paul finished a strong second in Minnesota against Mitt Romney while Santorum stunned the frontrunner in Colorado, a state where bettors had backed Romney at intrade.com by nearly 99 percent.

Romney had also come out against Internet gambling but his perceived reputation as a chronic “flip-flopper” made such a position less threatening.

Santorum, on the other hand, appears firmly committed to his conservative values.

Not only does Santorum not want online gambling legalized, he also refers to the activity as “dangerous for our country”.

Santorum, in this video interview produced by the Las Vegas Sun last week, begins discussing online gambling just before the 8 minute mark.
