Casino magnate and GOP mega donor Sheldon Adelson has a new ally to support his online gambling prohibition.  And that man just happens to be the same Congressman whacked by Adelson’s wife’s purse on Tuesday.

It’s none other than Rep. Brad Ashford (D-Neb), only a small handful of individuals supporting the legislation.

From the Washington Post:

On the same day that Sheldon Adelson’s wife dropped her Hermes clutch off a ledge and whacked him on the shoulder, Rep. Brad Ashford (D-Neb.) became the newest lawmaker to sign on as a co-sponsor to an anti-online gaming bill backed by Adelson. In fact, Ashford was the only congressman to sign on Tuesday. The other 13 co-sponsors had signed on in the weeks prior.

Meriam Adelson has since apologized for the incident.

The Congressman had decided to sign onto the bill prior to the incident.
