  • Seven contenders for the California governor's race debate Tuesday night

  • Tom Steyer leads in the odds at -110 but is closely followed by Xavier Becerra at +150 odds

The top seven contenders in a highly competitive race to become California's next governor will face off in a CNN debate tonight at 9 p.m. ET.

This race could end up sideways because of California's unusual "jungle primary" system, which could leave November's ballot without a Democrat.

After Eric Swalwell's resignation, we sent out updated odds for the gubernatorial race. Well, since then they've moved drastically at BetOnline.ag.

Seven gubernatorial candidates have qualified to take the debate floor in the Los Angeles area Tuesday, May 5, just as mail-in ballots start to hit California voters’ mailboxes.

The candidates who qualified to participate in CNN’s gubernatorial debate are Republicans Chad Bianco and Steve Hilton, along with Democrats Xavier Becerra, Matt Mahan, Katie Porter, Tom Steyer, and Antonio Villaraigosa.

California Governor Odds

Tom Steyer -110 (Steyer had 25/1 odds two weeks ago and is now the favorite)

Xavier Becerra +150 (Becerra had 28/1 odds two weeks ago and is now the second favorite)

Matt Mahan 9/1

Katie Porter 12/1

Steve Hilton 12/1
