Victory Poker

Responding to my masterwork focusing on how Victory Poker has no known African American professional poker players on its roster, or anyone outside the White race for that matter, VP of Operations for the company ensured Gambling911.com that the company does offer an Equal Employment Opportunity workplace.

To back this up, the VP of Operations at Victory Poker advised us that she is of Mexican heritage or, as Victory poker pro Dan Bilzerian might call her, a ****ing ****** ****** *****.

Bilzerian has come under fire for making an insensitive comment on his Twitter page directed at African Americans, people of the Jewish faith and Mexicans.  Bilzerian claims he was quoting the film Gran Torino but a poker reporter covering the World Series of Poker on ESPN, Joy Miller, left him a scathing message advising that, without an apology, she would not be covering Bilzerian or any other Victory Poker players regardless of how far they might get in the tournament.

For the record, Gambling911.com will most certainly be covering Victory Poker players during this year's World Series of Poker should they enjoy any type of success.  If people are offended by Bilzarian's remarks, which many most certainly are, than let the people hear them and make their own judgments.

Today, the Swedish Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg offended quite a few folks by declaring "We (BP) care about the small people".  Does this mean that Anderson Cooper should stop mentioning BP in his coverage of the oil spill because Svanberg referred to those living along the coastline as "the small people"?

Of course not.  Everyone is "small" when standing next to a Swede.

Miller's reporting is best suited for a bygone error like Nazi Germany or even today's North Korea where censorship of the press is the golden rule.  And for the record, ESPN has done everything in their power to distance themselves from Miller.

I don't know her from a hole in the wall but the venomous message she left on Bilzarian's voice mail suggests that her poker coverage will be overly bowdlerized.

Here is Ms. Lupe's response to my article:

I just got a message to look at this article. As an employee of Victory Poker, and a Mexican I am more offended by the photo in this article. Seriously, HITLER? BIGGEST MASS MURDERER IN HISTORY and he equates to Blitz' stupid quote? Or am I not following that insinuation correctly? You tell me Jagajeet... Blitz sometimes has a big mouth and so do a lot of other people, some being poker pros. But, Blitz does not speak for Victory Poker. Should he have posted that stupid quote? Most likely NOT! But I will smack him around when I see him. However, for Victory Poker to be banned from WSOP coverage is also inappropriate. Joy is my friend and as a minority woman who has struggled for years to gain footing in a predominantly male industry, I understand how incensed one can get when you are faced with foolish behavior. Makes you wonder if you ever get to stop the struggle! I personally have a ZERO tolerance when it comes to racism, but I also believe in freedom of speech. (Even if they are stupid remarks) Two wrongs doesn't make a right. They both need to step back and get it together. And for Victory Poker? We have pros and staff from all walks of life. Some are in front of the scenes and others behind the scenes. We are very integrated here at VP... No one is targeted by their race or ethnic background to become part of VP, it's all about talent and enthusiasm and beauty. Ok, I just liked saying that last part... cuz being "Round, Brown and Low to the Ground" doesn't win me any contests!! lol My 2 cents..... Lupe VP Operations Manager
