Tom Dwan on Full Tilt Poker: “There was Enough Mischievousness That They Did”

The man who promised to pay back players owed by Full Tilt Poker with over a million dollars of his own money if they failed to pay is probably wishing he hadn’t made such a rash promise. After all, Tom Dwan had only signed on with FTP a few months prior to the company’s collapse post April 15 of this past year and the New Jersey-born player has yet to be implicated in any wrongdoing (unlike fellow FTP pros Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer).

In an exclusive interview with PokerNews.com, Dwan stated that the year 2011 was a good one in terms of his overall winnings but how much of the past nine months has been overshadowed by what transpired at Full Tilt Poker, a company that is yet to pay any of its players since last June.

Well obviously the whole Full Tilt situation still makes me sick to my stomach every time I think about it. I don’t know, other than Full Tilt, it was an alright year for me, but it still sucks that we can’t play online poker in the U.S. anymore. It sucks that I went on a USO Tour where there were a bunch of soldiers talking about how they could play online poker wherever they were in the world, and then came home and weren’t allowed to.

When you asked me how poker was in 2011, that’s the first thing I think of. It’s hard to get past that one. A pretty sour note on the year for me and a lot of other people obviously.

When asked why he hadn’t updated his Twitter account since last April, Dwan stated that he lost his password and that Full Tilt Poker essentially had set up the account on his behalf and has since been unable to access.

I lost my Twitter password soon after the Full Tilt stuff. I think someone at Full Tilt set up my Twitter for me, you know, nothing mischievous on Tilt’s part. Believe me, there was enough mischievousness that they did, but not related to my Twitter.

Dwan is currently down under with his girlfriend attending the Aussie Millions 2012 Main Event and has partaken in some high stakes poker game in Macau.

Every day, it seems, there are constant reminders of his affiliation with the one time second largest online poker room.

People asking me questions about Tilt is just a reminder of how many people got screwed over.
