Professional Poker Player Vadim Trincher Facing Up to 27 Months in Prison

A professional poker player has confessed to his role in running an illegal sports betting operation that catered to wealthy gamblers in the United States, Russia and the Ukraine.

Vadim Trincher, 52, copped a plea on Wednesday, admitting he took bets on mostly soccer games from gamblers in both the US and in Europe.  Some of his clientele were billionaires.

Trincher, who resides in New York City, has won just over $1.2 million on the live poker circuit. 

His biggest win to date came at the Foxwoods Poker Classic / WPT Event Season 7 No Limit Hold’em Championship in 2009 where he took home $731,079.

Though Trincher was looking at up to 20 years in prison if convicted, the terms of his plea deal call for a sentence between 21 and 27 months.
