The PokerStars.com European Poker Tour London ‘Festival of Poker’ gets under way, with the third stop of EPT Season 8 scheduled to take place from September 29 to October 6 at the Hilton London Metropole on Edgware Road.

The main focus will be on the £5,250 Main Event, which takes place from September 30 to October 6, and is expected to draw hundreds of international poker pros, PokerStars qualifiers and Team PokerStars Pros, for one of the biggest poker tournaments of the year. There is also a wide range of side events, including the £20,500 High Roller event, a £2,150 8-Game European Championship, a £5,250 Heads-Up event and the £550 Women’s Event.

Several Team PokerStars Pros are already confirmed to be playing the Main Event, including Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Viktor Blom, Jason Mercier and Liv Boeree, as well as Team PokerStars SportStars Boris Becker and Fatima Moreira de Melo.

There is still time to join the Team Pros in the London Main Event as there is a £525 2X Chance Qualifier running on PokerStars tonight (Weds) at 19.25 (BST), which guarantees 10 packages to the tournament. Players can register by clicking on Events > EPT > Cash Satellites in the PokerStars client.

Twitter wall and EPT Quest

For the first time at an EPT event, there will be a Twitter wall in the tournament room, with four big screens set to display tournament and EPT information, special competitions, and players’ tweets. It’s sure to be an eye-catching focal point at the event.

This year also marks the first ever EPT London Quest on October 2 – a one-day competition run through Twitter, which will award one person with a free seat in the £300 + £30 ‘Win the Button’ No-Limit Hold’em side event at 8pm the same day!

In order to win the prize, poker fans will need to follow the account @PokerStars and hashtag #EPTQuest from 8.30am on October 2, for clues to a password and details of a secret central London location. Once they crack the code and turn up at the location, they will need to correctly say the password, then play and win a five-minute heads-up tournament. If successful, they will receive one of nine golden chips, which will grant entry into a single-table satellite. The first nine players to win a golden coin will play the sit & go satellite, where the winner will get the £330 seat.

EPT President

Newly-appointed EPT President Edgar Stuchly was excited at the prospect of an entertaining and competitive week of poker both on and off the felt. He said: “I’m looking forward to one of the most important and anticipated events of the tour. London is one of the few stops on the EPT that has been around since the very beginning and has advanced to a fabulous festival with 31 events. Our entire team is thrilled to welcome players to this event.”

EPT London venues

In addition to the tournaments at Hilton London Metropole, players will be able to take part in satellites and cash games at the nearby Grosvenor Victoria Casino, which is also located on Edgware Road. Players can buy in direct online with PokerStars for all EPT London events, as well as in person at the casino.

Martin Ramskill, General Manager of the Vic Casino, said: “We are all looking forward to another fabulous EPT London in conjunction with the Grosvenor Victoria Casino. As always we welcome all players to the 24/7 cash games in the Vic Poker Room. Courtesy cars will run between venues continuously for players’ convenience.”
