One of the biggest names in poker, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, will continue to represent the Breeders Cup for a second year.

The Breeders Cup announced the extension of its partnership with Mizrachi, which includes various promotional activities throughout the rest of the year.

The extension follows a successful 2011 campaign that helped to raise awareness of October’s Breeders' Cup World Championships within the poker community, including and increased presence of poker professionals at the Breeders' Cup along with the staging of an inaugural Breeders' Cup Celebrity Poker Invitational.

Mizrachi, a World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour champion, will take part in the Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge and is expected to encourage his fellow poker pros to participate in the $10,000 handicapping event.

Mizrachi will also headline The DeepStacks Poker Tour Breeders' Cup Celebrity Invitational to be held later this year. The event will include trainers, jockeys, owners, celebrities, and poker pros. Additional details will be announced at a later date.

"Partnering with the Breeders' Cup has been amazing," Mizrachi said. "I look forward to fine-tuning my handicapping skills as I prepare for the Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge. Check my Twitter and Facebook accounts for updates as I plan to visit a number of tracks throughout the summer."

This year's Breeders' Cup will be hosted by Santa Anita Park on November 2-3.

"We have been pleased with our initial step into the poker world and Michael has been a terrific advocate for us," said Peter Rotondo, president of entertainment and media for the Breeders' Cup. "We look forward to year two of our working relationship, especially the Breeders' Cup Celebrity Invitational and Betting Challenge."

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
