Poker Player Laptops May Have Been Compromised at EPT Barcelona

Reports surfaced on Friday that at least two laptops left in a Barcelona hotel during a European Poker Tour event may have been infected with a Trojan virus.

Both incidents occurred at the Hotel Arts.  Rooms were apparently illegally entered with the Trojan placed directly into the poker players laptops.  Players attending the event were rightfully on edge.

PokerStars, which sponsors the EPT Barcelona event, confirmed the reports and noted that law enforcement were investigating the matter.

From PokerFuse.com:

If poker players are suspected to be targeted, then it is feasible some form of trojan was installed in order to gain remote unauthorized access to their laptops. For example, hidden screen-sharing programs can illicitly share hole cards while the player plays online; keyloggers can track and “send home” key-presses in order to uncover passwords—of online poker rooms, email addresses, ewallets or other sensitive accounts.
