Yankees player Alex Rodriguez, affectionately known as A-Rod, called allegations that he participated in high stakes underground poker games “unfair and inaccurate”.

A-Rod is alleged to have been involved in celebrity poker games, some of which have been linked to an elaborate ponzi scheme involving Spiderman actor Toby Maguire.

Rodriguez is expected to meet with Major League Baseball officials in the coming days to discuss the allegations first reported in Star Magazine.

"The only thing I have to say about that is it was extremely inaccurate and unfair,'' Rodriguez said. "I look forward to meeting with them as soon as possible and putting this behind me."

Dan Bilzerian, a professional poker player who claimed to be at the game linked to the ponzi scheme, told the Daily News Rodriguez wasn't there. Bilzerian also said he was the main source to the Star story.

"He was playing in the World Series at the time," said Bilzerian, who added the game took place in November 2009.

Bilzerian is one of a handful of individuals named in a lawsuit claiming investors were duped by a hedge fund manager named Bradley Ruderman, who they alleged lost most of the monies invested through the underground high stakes poker games.
