Phil Ivey Mounts Comeback With Final Table Finish in First 2012 WSOP Event

Poker elite Phil Ivey managed to make it to the final table of the WSOP Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or Better event before going busto.

This marked his first World Series of Poker appearance in two years following a much publicized ugly divorce settlement and the shutdown of Full Tilt Poker, a company Ivey was closely aligned with.

Ivey was not among those player/stakeholders tied to Full Tilt accused of being part of a ponzi scheme by the US Justice Department, however.  Nonetheless, his likeness was plastered all over advertisements and banners for the site.

His ties to Full Tilt and the company’s financial downfall cost him legions of poker fans, suggests Howard Stutz of the Las Vegas Review Journal

Customers of Full Tilt Poker have been waiting more than a year to be paid.

Rival PokerStars reportedly was set to acquire the assets of FTP and assume liability for the company’s player base, however, there is no word yet on when – or even if – this will occur.
