Peter Eastgate 4th Place Finish at WSOP Event 56

2008 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Peter Eastgate leapfrogged over the 2012 WSOP Main Event winner, Jonathan Duhamel, to become the 14th top money earner in poker.  Prior to finishing in 4th place at Wednesday night’s No Limit Hold’em event, Eastgate had been at number 15.  The 4th place finish earned the Danish player $209,111 but no second bracelet.

Tomas Junek (pictured) won Event #56 and the top cash prize of $661,022.

Junek, a Czech Republic poker player, had never won a major sanctioned poker tournament prior to today.  In doing so, he finished off 2797 other players who entered the event.

While fellow countryman Martin Staszko finished second at last year’s World Series of Poker Main event and remains the biggest money maker in poker from the Czech Republic, Junek becomes the first person from that Eastern European nation to win a WSOP bracelet.
