State Senator Roderick Wright plans to reintroduce his bill to legalize online poker in the world’s 8th largest economy of California next week, according to PokerFuse.com

Changes to language include a “a blanket waiver of tribal sovereign immunity” as demanded by the Tribal casino operators in the state.

Past efforts to get SB 1463 passed have been met with opposition from the Tribes.

The California Online Poker Association (COPA), which previously represented 31 brick and mortar casinos and 29 Tribal casinos, disbanded in October.  It remains to be seen what impact their absence will have on efforts to get such legislation passed.

When asked by PokerFuse whether the loss of COPA would make passing the online poker measure any easier, a staffer for Senator Wright commented:  “Time will tell, we will begin where we left off.”
