San Jose, Costa Rica – The next Million Dollar Sunday online poker tournament could very well see its prize pool eclipse the $1 million guarantee thanks to a renewed push to welcome more players into the signature poker event.

Americas Cardroom today announced that players who rank on the Sit & Crush and Beast weekly leaderboards will win seats in a $50+$5 tournament that feeds into the Million Dollar Sunday.

“Get ready to see the next Million Dollar Sunday prize pool roar to new heights,” said Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. “Not only do our Beast and Sit & Crush players already make big money by playing their favorite games online, but now they can turn their grinding abilities into a potential $200,000 payday.”

The next Million Dollar Sunday tournament takes place on August 2nd at 3:00pm ET, the third one already this year. The much-anticipated event features a $1 million guaranteed prize pool, with $200,000 earmarked for the first place winner.

Americas Cardroom introduced the frequent $1 million online poker tournament earlier this year to much fanfare. It had been nearly four years since US poker players saw a Sunday million dollar poker tournament. Thanks to Americas Cardroom's huge popularity in the United States, the online poker site was able to return to the glory days of poker.

The Beast and Sit & Crush

Sit & Crush is a progressive points race that’s funded entirely through the poker site’s jackpot tables. It represents no extra cost to the player because it is fuelled by the tournament's fee. The leaderboard competition gives poker players a new chance to race to the top of a leaderboard for cash prizes and tourney seats each week, just by playing in qualifying SnG tournaments. At the end of each 7-day period, the prize pool is distributed to players who rank on the weekly leaderboard.

The Beast works very similar to Sit & Crush, only it’s reserved exclusively for cash game players. It is a weekly event that costs absolutely nothing to enter and has no extra jackpot fee. The Beast’s weekly prize pool is fed from a portion of the collected rake.

With a new leaderboard each week, players have the opportunity to participate in brand new large-scale Sit & Crush and Beast tournaments every seven days. From June 28th through July 26th, those large-scale tournaments will feed players to the $500+$40 Million Dollar Sunday, scheduled for August 2nd.

While the $50+$5 buy-in Beast & Sit & Crush tournament is reserved for players who rank on the weekly leaderboards, players can also buy directly in with cash without ranking on the weekly leaderboards.

More information on Million Dollar Sunday, The Beast and Sit & Crush, including details on how to earn points and rank on the leaderboards, can be found at Americas Cardroom here.
