Las Vegas Ticket Drive Shows NHL Team Viable: Daniel Negreanu Pushing Hard

Efforts to bring a National Hockey League (NHL) team to Las Vegas gained support in recent days following an “unofficial” ticket drive campaign that was met with great success.

The actual ticket drive to determine whether a hockey team in Sin City to be feasible is set to begin February 10 but potential owners Bill Foley and members of the Maloof family (owners of the Palms Casino) have already hosted two receptions over the past week to identify business and civic leaders placed in charge of making sure word gets out about the ticket drive.

Organizers were hoping to identify 50 such leaders but instead received upwards of 80 core members committing to make down payments on season tickets.

Poker pro Daniel Negreanu has confirmed he is among those 80 individuals, pushing the ticket drive on his popular Twitter feed.

ESPN.com reports that, between the core group and the broader season ticket drive that will begin in February, the ownership group is hoping to collect 10,000 deposits, a number the NHL suggested in sanctioning the trial ticket run in early December, although others are hoping to see that number reach beyond 12,000.
