iPoker overtakes PokerStars

For the first time in its history, the iPoker Network has landed in the second place spot of the world’s most trafficked online poker rooms.

iPoker has overtaken PartyPoker, which occupied the coveted spot ever since Full Tilt Poker had its license yanked on June 29, forcing that site offline.

While Party once dominated the Internet poker scene prior to 2006, PokerStars would ultimately overtake all its competitors.  Stars currently has more than 6 times the traffic of iPoker and Party, and that’s not even counting its Italian site that ranks as the 4th largest in the world.

The battle for number two will continue and Gambling911.com expects to see plenty of alternating between both iPoker and PartyPoker during the month of August.  Only 50 real cash players separated the two with Party averaging substantially more players during the early morning hours Tuesday.

888.com held onto the number 5 spot.
