Two individuals were called to testify on behalf of the defense in the Ernie Scherer III murder trial on Tuesday.  Scherer III, a poker player, is accused of murdering his parents for their over $1 million inheritance.

A female trapeze classmate of Scherer III’s at the Hollywood Aerial Arts testified that she found Ernie to be “cute” and dated him on three different occasions: March 10, March 11 and March 12, 2008.  This was around the same time in which the murders took place.

Arisa Kim claims that she did not notice any unusual marks when Ernie removed his trousers during a comedy show.

She testified:  “I wasn’t staring but I didn’t notice anything, no.”

Also testifying this week was a neighbor of the murdered couple who claims that an unkempt and “suspicious” man had been making the rounds of their Castlewood Country Club (California) neighborhood selling meat from a refrigerated truck during the weekend of the murder.

Kaveh Gooyandeh said he observed the man seemingly casing out his garage.

The defense is attempting to show that Ernie had an alibi for the nights the murder is believed to have occurred as well as to demonstrate the potential for other suspects.
