Eureka Prague Main Event 2012 Breaks Attendance Records

The €1,100 Eureka Prague Main Event has broken all records for attendance at a Eureka event with a total of 652 players turning up to compete at the Season 2 finale at the Hilton Prague Hotel. This is nearly double the previous biggest event which was the first Eureka event ever held, in Prague, in Season 1 with 329 players. The tournament is now on Day 2 and in the money. The total prize pool is €632,440 with 72 places being paid. The winner will receive €140,000.

This second Eureka Prague tourney marks the start of an 11-day festive feast of PokerStars-sponsored poker in Prague with nearly 40 different tourneys scheduled between December 5 - 15. For the first time, Eureka is joining forces with the European Poker Tour, which will be visiting the Czech capital for the sixth time. The EPT starts on Sunday (the day of the Eureka final) and looks certain to attract a massive field.

EPT president and PokerStars' Director of Live Events Europe Edgar Stuchly said: "I am very excited about the huge number of participants for this Eureka finale. It shows that the decision to partner national tours and the EPT was the right one and is well appreciated by players. There is a great chance for this Festival to become the biggest poker event ever in Czech Republic. On the grounds of its success, I’m looking forward to our future events."

This season's five-day Eureka Prague event also attracted a record number of Team PokerStars Pros including EPT Sanremo champion Liv Boeree, Toni Judet, Ana Marquez, Marcin Horecki, Martin Hruby and Dag Palovic. Nearly 150 players won their seats to the event and many pulled off a fantastic double, winning a prize package for BOTH the Eureka and EPT main events including EPT London champion David Vamplew. Also playing in the Eureka Main Event were most of the tour's champions to date, including Idan Greenberg (Bulgaria 1) and Alija Filipovic (Croatia 2).

The €2,000 Eureka High Roller event starts tomorrow (December 8) at midday.
