Chris Day Leads at Even of Day 1A of EPT 10 Deauville Main Event

British player Chris Day has a super-narrow lead over Finland's Jorma Nuutinen at the end of Day 1a of the EPT Deauville Main Event tonight. Day has 154,100 to Nuutinen's 154,000. There are 134 players who made it through today from the 234-strong starting field including Team PokerStars Pros Eugene Katchalov and Marcin Horecki.

The EPT has joined forces with the national France Poker Series to create a mega ten-day, 45-event EPT Deauville Poker Festival, running January 22 - February 1, 2014 at Casino Barriere.

In addition to the title and cash prize, the winner of the EPT Deauville Main Event will receive a stunning watch worth more than €5,000 from luxury Swiss brand SLYDE, the Official Watch Sponsor for EPT Season 10 Main Events.

Team PokerStars Pros Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Julien Brecard and Marcin Horecki are among the many players competing in both the FPS and EPT Main Events. Some 430 seats have been won for the EPT Deauville Poker Festival including 260 for the France Poker Series Main Event and 178 for the EPT Main Event. Around 30 players managed to win seats for both - including EPT London champion David Vamplew, EPT Barcelona champion Kent Lundmark, Jeremy Nock, Paul Testud, Michael Fratty, EPT London finalist Ludovic Geilich and Russian player Yury Gulyy who was 15th last season.

VAN LEEUWEN WINS FPS DEAUVILLE MAIN EVENT 
Dutch player Niels van Leeuwen won the FPS Deauville Main Event for €175,000 tonight after beating Frenchman Jean-Paul Vasseur. Van Leeuwen was the only non-French player at the final table. A record 1,095 players entered the event, which started on Wednesday as the debut event of the festival. The prize pool was €1,051,200 with 143 players getting paid, including Andrew Teng (who bubbled the final), PokerStars TV Stars member Celine Bastian, EPT Copenhagen champion Michael Tureniec, Friend of PokerStars Pierre Neuville and Team PokerStars Pro Julien Brécard. FPS HIGH ROLLER GETS TO UNOFFICIAL FINAL TABLE 
They are down to nine in the €2k France Poker Series Deauville High Roller which started yesterday with a record-breaking 303-strong field. The players – all eyeing up a €131,000 first prize - are keen to finish tonight as many want to enter Day 1b of the EPT Deauville Main Event tomorrow. The current chip leader is Polish player Jakub Michaluk with 1.9 million, followed by Italian Andrea Dato with 1.3 million and Kamer Tir from France with 1,050,000. The prize pool is €654,480; 30 players have already cashed including Mathew Frankland, Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Jeremy Nock, Joao Vieira, Philippe Ktorza, Jean-Noel Thorel, PCA finalist Shyam Srinivasan and EPT Berlin runner-up Robert Haigh.

Last season, German pro Jonas Lauck beat a 222-strong field to win the FPS Deauville High Roller title and €163,700 first prize.

VON PERGER WINS WOMEN'S EVENT 
Jamila von Perger beat Claire Renaut heads-up to take down th €300 Women's Event for €4,200. Both women are EPT regulars and dating well-known pros. Von Perger outlasted boyfriend Manig Loeser to finish 23rd at EPT Barceona; Renaut is the girlfriend of Fabrice Soulier and the couple are expecting their first child in a few months. There were 44 entries creating a €12,672 prize pool with six paid.
