Even with the majority of Italians on holiday, the numbers have been staggering during the first two weeks of cash play this summer.  Cash games have raked in more than 150 million euros over that time period.  (888Poker.com English)

From Poker.it:

Typically this is the slow period of the year when it comes to online poker play, Poker.it notes.  Not in Italy!

The market has already become Europe’s biggest and PokerStars.it is now the world’s 4th largest room while 888Poker.com has climbed to number 5 based heavily on its entry into the Italian market.  888Poker.com has witnessed more than a 500 real cash player increase since the poker games debuted in Italy.

There is, however, one negative observed by Poker.it:  The Sit n Go tournaments are way down.

The cash games are not increasing the level of blind and anyone can come and go when he or she wants to play the preferred amount, Poker.it notes.

That site also reveals that online casino game play has increased dramatically:  6 million euros a day, for a total of 2.2 billion per year.  Anyone think the industry can’t help bolster Italy’s economy?
