San Jose, Costa Rica – On October 28th, the gloves officially come off. Americas Cardroom today announced The Cage $1k, a $1,050 buy-in cash game where every passing second is a fight to the finish. The time-based cash game takes place each Wednesday starting October 28th and features a new blind structure. It also becomes available to more players with its lower buy-in, previously at $5,000+$100.

“The Cage has become a staple of our Wednesday schedule,” stated Michael Harris, spokesperson for Americas Cardroom. "Today we’re excited to up the thrill level with a smaller buy-in and a new blind structure. We expect this to be extremely popular with our cash game players as well as anyone who has participated in The Cage before."

The Cage is Americas Cardroom's groundbreaking cash game that combines the best of tournaments and cash games. The goal of The Cage is to emerge from the cash game after four hours with chips in hand. While at first glance it might sound like a typical tournament, it’s far from it.

Players buy into The Cage for $1,050 and receive exactly $1,000 in chips. Unlike a tournament, each chip has an actual cash value and players have exactly four hours to punch their way to victory. Those who lose all their chips are not eligible to buy back in. At the end of the four hours, surviving players will be credited with their exact chip stack. That means a player who emerges with $23,000 in chips will receive exactly $23,000.

The October 28th edition of The Cage features four levels: Level 1 with $2/$5 blinds; Level 2 with $5/$10 blinds; Level 3 with $10/$20 blinds; and Level 4 with $25/$50 blinds. Each level runs for one hour with breaks scheduled at 55 minutes past the hour.

Players who’d rather not shell out the $1k buy-in can enter a satellite and win their spot for far less. Americas Cardroom has turned The Beast and Sit & Crush satellites into The Cage feeders, every Sunday starting October 25th.

$500,000 GTD Main Event Sunday

Those who can’t wait for big buy-in excitement don’t have to wait until October 28th. Americas Cardroom is hosting the $500,000 Guaranteed Main Event Sundays through November 8th. The next one runs on Sunday, October 25th at 5pm ET.
