Jacksonville's Jackson Denies Hellmuth His 17th WSOP Bracelet

Poker pro David Jackson beat Phil Hellmuth in the $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em, thus denying the self-described "Poker Brat" his 17th bracelet.  Hellmuth remains the record bracelet holder.

For Jackson, the payout was $598,173 bringing his live career earnings to $3,610,934.  The Jacksonville, Florida-based player now has two bracelets.

"I was just in my zone, honestly. I felt like I was going to win. I knew I was going to win. I felt like it was meant for me," Jackson said immediately following the victory.

"I'm just in awe. I'm just happy. I'm happy, but it's just hard to process right now," Jackson told PokerNews. "This one [second bracelet] the feeling, it definitely feels much better. The online one was like a 700 or 777 event. So there were a lot of people, but it was an easier field. This one was a tougher field," he added.

Jackson started with a healthy chip lead but soon made it level, but Jackson wasn't concerned about any resurgence from the Poker Brat. "I just played my game. I stayed calm and just continued on."
