Five Years of Online Gambling in Pennsylvania

Gambling is a human activity, which can be, reliably dated back to the Ancient era. Gambling dice have been discovered, the origin of which can be traced back to the early Chinese civilization and early Greek city-states. However, archeologists and historians believe that the history of gambling can be dated back much further, to the prehistoric era. In other words, the belief that humans have always been gambling is wide spread, though not backed up by any evidence.

Regardless of its history, gambling is a huge phenomenon in the world today. Cities like Las Vegas and Macau are some of the biggest tourist destinations, with a vibrant gambling industry. However, in the 21st century, a new form of gambling arose. To keep up with the information era, gambling has become “online”.

Online Gambling

Since the start of the 21st century, countless online gambling sites have appeared on the internet, and in recent years, the practice has become all the more popular. For a long time, in the United States, gambling online was completely illegal. However, recently many states have begun to change their minds on casino websites. For example, in 2018, Pennsylvania became one of a handful of states to legalize all forms of online betting and gambling. Gamblers in Pennsylvania can now access numerous PA sportsbook bonus and promo codes, to make their online gambling a whole lot easier and more fun.

The question here is, how has online gambling worked out for Pennsylvania? In this article, we are going to take a look at the last five years of online gambling in Pennsylvania.

Online Gambling in Pennsylvania

Since 2020, online betting and gambling have seen a drastic surge in popularity in the United States in general, but the states where casino websites are legal have, especially, seen a drastic boom in the gambling industry, and Pennsylvania is no different. The reason for this is simple. Most people today prefer to stay at home after a hard day’s work. Why go out to a local casino or sportsbook, when it is all available to you from your own home, at just the push of a button?

Gambling in Pennsylvania has always been rather popular, however, with the legalization of online gambling it has seen a drastic surge in popularity. Even before the legalization of casino websites, however, the Pennsylvanian gambling industry generated over a billion dollars. Online casino legalization has only made the industry stronger.

Taking Responsibility

Thanks to online casinos, gambling has become more popular and accessible than ever. This has obvious benefits, however, it also has some detriments. With gambling available at the tip of anyone’s fingers, it is much easier to succumb to desire, and bet/gamble more than you can afford. Just remember that betting with responsibility is one of the main tenants of a great gambler and punter. As the old song goes “You got to know when to hold ‘em, and know when to fold ‘em. Know when to walk away, and know when to run.”

It is hugely important to maintain responsibility when online gambling, and in order to help you, we’ve compiled a couple of tips. Number one, look at gambling as a hobby, not a profession. Don’t think that you have to make money when gambling. At some point, cut your losses. Set apart a sum of money that you know you can afford to lose, and only use that sum for gambling. Take a break. Whether you are winning or losing, make sure to take a break between games. Maybe even a multi-day break.

Follow these few steps, and you should have no trouble gambling and betting responsibly at any online (or even land-based) casino.
