What Are The Odds to Win - Women's 200m Butterfly - Swimming - Summer Olympics
Summer McIntosh (CAN) is the 2024 Olympic champion in the 400 metre individual medley where she was a huge favorite to win gold. She also holds the world record in that event. As well, she is a four-time World Aquatics champion, two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, and a two time Olympic medallist. She has a gold medal in the 400m individual medley and a silver medal in the 400m freestyle.
In the Women's 200m, her odds are much shorter at -250 despite still being a favorite to win the gold.
“I still remember growing up every single day standing up at the beginning of class singing ‘Oh Canada,’” she fondly recalled of her schoolgirl days following her big win in Paris. “So now being able to do it at the Olympic Games, it’s pretty surreal.”
"I try to take every event very individually and just do my work, but starting off for me - getting on the podium - is definitely a great way to start," McIntosh said. "You try to continue to get better and better."
Regan Smith (USA) has the next shortest odds. She is the world junior record holder in the women's long course 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter backstroke; the world record holder in the long course 100-meter backstroke; and the former record holder in the 200-meter backstroke. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in three events representing the United States, winning a bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke, a silver medal in the 200-meter butterfly, and a silver medal in the 4×100-meter medley relay.
