Leon Marchand of France is the Men's 400m Individual Medley gold medal winner favorite for swimming at this year's Paris Summer Olympics with Carson Foster of the USA coming in with the second shortest odds and promising a potential $750 pay day for every $100 bet.

Marchand will require a hefty risk vs. reward unlike the Men's 400m Freestyle where there are three qualifiers with single digit odds within the +100 to +250 range and no clear cut favorite.

We wouldn't bet against Marchand, even with the $60 risk to profit a mere $10.

He is the World record holder in the long course 400 metre individual medley and the French record holder in the long course 200 metre individual medley, 200 metre butterfly and 200 metre breaststroke.

At the 2023 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, he won NCAA titles in the 200 yard breaststroke, 200 yard individual medley, and 400 yard individual medley.

His goal is to end France’s 12-year gold medal drought in the pool and potentially win multiple gold medals.

“When I returned to France, I was a bit stressed realizing that the Olympics were less than a month away,” Marchand told Olympics.com at the France Swimming training camp in Vichy.

“But since I’ve been in training camp, I’ve been calm and serene. The event doesn’t overwhelm me; it will help me transcend. Bob [Bowman] and I have done the job for a year and a half, now is not the time to panic. We don’t overthink it.

“For me, it’s a driving force. Making history helps you learn about yourself and opens you up to others. Many French athletes, for example, are inspired by Florent Manaudou. It’s not my primary goal, but it comes with what I do in the water and the work I put in.”
