State Sen. Ray Lesniak (D-Elizabeth) sent out an email blast today declaring victory in his standoff with Harrah's.

"Harrah's, despite its huge campaign contributions to the Republican Governor's Association and hiring of Governor Christie's campaign manager Michael DuHaime, has run out of luck," Lesniak declared. "Its effort to legalize Internet gaming at the federal level and prevent states from taxing its revenues has been declared dead by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

"New Jersey can now move ahead with my legislation S490 to legalize intrastate internet gaming which can produce sufficient revenues to maintain purse subsidies to make our horse racing industry vibrant (reminder: $1 bil+ revenues, 13,000 jobs) and secure much needed revenues for our struggling Atlantic City casinos without interference.  The Christie administration no longer has an excuse to bow at the Temple of Harrah's."

Included in Lesniak's blast was a statement from Senator Reid's office, printed below:

"Senator Reid has long had concerns about Internet gaming. He does not support any of the existing bills and he would oppose any proposal that would put jobs in Nevada at risk."
