Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins odds had the Cowboys as -3 ½ favorites across the board and this line has changed little since opening a few months ago at SBG Global.

This game goes off Sunday, 8:25 pm Eastern – NBC

The regular NFL season debut of Donovan McNabb as the Washington Redskins starting quarterback gets prime time coverage on Sunday night as NBC will be showing the Cowboys and Redskins.  Anytime these two long time rivals meet it is good television and this should be no different with McNabb and new Washington head coach Mike Shanahan looking to win their first game.

Much of the attention in this game on Sunday night will be on McNabb since he will be playing for a new team.  He had some success with the Philadelphia Eagles but he never was able to win it all.  The Redskins are happy to have him and expectations in Washington are higher than they have been in some time.  McNabb had no success last football season against the Cowboys as the Eagles went 0-3 against Dallas.  It will be interesting to see if McNabb has more success as a member of the Redskins.

Washington lost twice to Dallas last season by scores of 7-6 and 17-0. The Cowboys have a potent offense led by quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Miles Austin.  The Cowboys signed Austin to a multi-year extension on Thursday so they now have their quarterback and top receiver signed for years to come. Dallas gets a lot of attention because of Romo and the offense but it was the defense that was great last season for the Cowboys. They led the NFC last season in fewest points allowed.

Dallas is the best team in Week 1 in NFL history. They are 34-15-1 in season openers. They have won three straight season opening games by an average of 13.7 points per game.  The Redskins have lost three of their last four NFL season openers and have not scored more than 17 points in their first game since 2002.

Dallas has won three straight overall against Washington and they lead the all-time series 59-37-2. The Cowboys are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games in September. The Cowboys are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 meetings in Washington. The Redskins are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 home games.

Looking at the total, the Under is 5-1 in the Cowboys last 6 road games. The Over is 4-1 in the Redskins last 5 home games. The Under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings in Washington.
