It’s the official start of the 2010 College Football weekend and football betting has now commenced.

In Vegas, bookmakers are not seeing anything spectacular however.  It is next weekend with the start of the new NFL season when the books look to make out like bandits.

The problem:  There are not a whole lot of exciting matchups during Week One of the 2010 College Football weekend.

“It’s pretty bland,” observed Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.  “Only the hardcore folks are likely to be placing bets on any of these games.”

“This is pretty much a soft opening,” Jay Kornegay, executive director of the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook, told the Las Vegas Sun. “You just have a few teams playing decent opponents. It’s like a dress rehearsal for most of the teams.”

The only game really getting a decent amount of action was the UNLV Rebels, and they were a 20 ½ underdog against Wisconsin

There is one game getting some good early attention for Week 1 of the 2010 College Football season and that was North Carolina vs. LSU with the home team coming in as a -6 ½ point favorite

College Football actually gets underway Thursday night with a handful of games.

Bookmakers come into the 2010 College Football and NFL season having enjoyed a more successful “off season” than usual despite the lagging economy.  Most betting firms, including those that cater heavily to North America (thanks in part to Team USA making it to the next round), made out like bandits with the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
