Maybe it has something to do with his being kept in a Germany aquarium and Germany just happens to have made it into the semi-finals, but Paul the Psychic Octopus continues to make his World Cup picks with precision accuracy.  After all, he was one of the few that correctly predicted Germany would beat World Cup darlings Argentina this past Saturday.

To date, Paul has been perfect with his picks.

As impressive a pick Germany over Argentina might have been, Paul also picked Serbia to beat Germany during their first round games, which they did 1-0.

Much to the chagrin of British bookmakers, Paul is picking Spain to win the 2010 FIFA World Cup outright.  Even while England was still in the tournament, most of World Cup future bets from UK punters were going towards Spain.

The magnificent mollusk makes his selections clear by selecting a strategically placed box inside his tank. Since the beginning of the World Cup, two boxes have been placed within the tank, one with the German flag and the other with the flag of their opponent.  Whichever box Paul selects is said to be the team he is picking to win the game.  Each box contains a tasty morsel inside.

Paul resides in a tank at the Sea Life Aquarium in Oberhausen.
