Germany pummeled England in their knockout game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and "knock out" might be an understatement.

The 3-1 win by Germany had the British tabloids throwing out some of the most colorful headlines.

The Daily Mail:  "WAGS Horror As England Gets Crushed" and "At Least The Sun's Still Shining".

A disallowed goal for the Brits will be overshadowed by their horrendous performance.

"Millions of England fans had their World Cup dreams shattered this afternoon after their team suffered a crushing - and highly controversial - defeat at the hands of their oldest enemy. Germany lead 4-1 after an epic encounter in which a wrongly disallowed goal prevented England completing a stunning comeback."

The Sun:  "UR a Useless Referee" was the headline that blared out in reference to the Uruguayan referee's assistant who claimed Frank Lampard's obvious goal hadn't made it into the net.

"It would have drawn us level with the Germans on 2-2 (at halftime)," the Sun points out.

"Nation Mourns As Lions Are Mauled" read the primary Sun headline.
