Despite a shock loss to Switzerland Wednesday morning, Spain remains the favorite to win the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Bookmaker.com had him listed at +350 odds or just better than 3/1.  Brazil was a co-favorite with the same odds.

Spain had 12 straight wins prior to coming into Wednesday's matchup.  No team has ever won a World Cup after losing their first match.

"Does anyone really want to bet Spain now though, that is the question," says Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.

Switzerland was still a 150/1 long shot to win the 2010 World Cup.

Gelson Fernandes scored on a rare Swiss attack, giving his team a stunning 1-0 upset Wednesday over European champion and tournament favorite Spain.

Spain completed more passes (574) and created the second-most chances (18) of any team thus far in the tournament. The Red Fury failed to net a goal against a Swiss team that now has five consecutive World Cup clean sheets, a streak of 484 minutes that dates to 1994.

Spain outshot Switzerland 24-8 and held a 63-37 percent edge in possession, which matches Brazil for the largest margin at the tournament thus far.

"These were three unexpected points," Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said before defending his team's defensive play as the only way to nullify Spain.

"If you play an attacking game against Spain, you'll lose and suffer one goal after the next," he said.
