ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (Gambling911.com) - Two women, including a Cape May County middle school computer teacher, are facing second-degree theft and conspiracy to commit robbery following an October 9 encounter at the Atlantic City casino.
Veda Engel and Amanda Crafts are both accused of taking $1,250 from a man they met at a bar inside Harrah's casino on October 9. Crafts, 35, is a middle school computer teacher. Engel, 23, graduated from Middle Township High School, Cape May in 2021 and was recently charged with prostitution at the nearby Borgata Casino.
The man was allegedly restrained during a sexual encounter that involved oral sex with Engel. According to the police report, they used his phone’s facial recognition technology, resulting in the theft.

Engel allegedly told the man he would only receive oral sex for the $1,250.
victime accused the middle school teacher of holding him down while Engel used his phone’s facial recognition technology and quickly made four Apple Pay transactions to her own account.
Crafts argued before Judge Timothy Maguire she was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. However, the victim accused the middle school teacher of holding him down while Engel used his phone’s facial recognition technology and quickly made four Apple Pay transactions to her own account.
The women have since been released and are now awaiting trial, and they both need to comply with biweekly court check-ins.
As of October 17, 2026, Amanda Crafts is still listed as a teacher at Middle Township Middle School in Cape May County.
Appearing in front of Judge Christine Smith since her release, Crafts was asked if she could return to her employment, for which she responded she didn't know and needed to contact her union after being released.
