Novig, a sports-focused prediction market, has reportedly quadrupled its valuation to $2 billion after it targeted young men with racy ads featuring actress Sydney Sweeney posing fully nude with strategically placed sports gear. The prediction market – a smaller competitor to platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket, which rival traditional sportsbooks – raised new funding at a $2 billion valuation, up from a $500 million valuation earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

Second Arrest Warrant Issued Against Vegas Dave

David Oancea, known to his social media followers as Vegas Dave, was found in contempt of court after the social media influencer once again failed to show up for court proceedings in a protracted civil case in which he owes debtors tens of millions of dollars. District Judge Joe Hardy ordered the warrant be prepared and attached with it a $1 million bail setting. It is the second warrant the judge has issued for Oancea’s arrest in the case. The case against him stems from Oancea being accused of sabotaging rental reservations for Mexican properties. He was ordered to pay a $30 million judgement to Cabo Platinum.

FanDuel Tells Congress it Has Sent About 30 Personalized Videos of Athletes and Entertainers to Customers

In response to congressional concerns about a video of Phillies star Bryce Harper that a FanDuel VIP account manager sent to a bettor who had an addiction, a FanDuel executive recently disclosed in a letter to lawmakers that the company has sent approximately 30 similar personalized videos of athletes and entertainers to its customers during the last two years. “On occasion, FanDuel has arranged a personalized video message, almost always through publicly available services, as a token of appreciation for a customer’s loyalty in choosing FanDuel over its competitors,” Cory Fox, a senior vice president for public policy and sustainability, wrote on Sept. 24. The videos, Fox said, are not used to “induce customers to continue gambling.” (source: Philadelphia Inquirer)

Florida AG Targets Reddit, Snap, TikTok Over Sweepstakes Casino Ads - Florida’s Attorney General has demanded Reddit, Snap and TikTok stop carrying ads for sweepstakes gambling platforms in the state. The companies have until October 23 to confirm the ads are removed and explain how they’ll prevent future ones from reaching Florida users. The letters name Stake and VGW brands, including Chumba Casino, LuckyLand and Global Poker, as examples of platforms being promoted. Florida filed lawsuits against Stake and VGW in August. Yet Gambling911.com revealed late Wednesday that the News-Press out of Fort Lauderdale featured "Best Florida online casinos and apps to try for free this week".

On Sept. 25, 2026, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed a provisional measure prohibiting the operation, offering, intermediation and advertising of fixed-odds betting. New deposits are already prohibited. Players have until Oct. 5 to withdraw funds voluntarily, and betting websites/apps are scheduled to be blocked beginning Oct. 6. Remaining player balances are supposed to be returned through financial institutions.
Brazil Soccer Clubs Are Going to be Hurting - Flamengo President Luiz Eduardo Baptista says the decree will weaken Brazilian football: ‘In Argentina, they’re celebrating this’. The club president put the estimated loss of income at roughly R$400 million (just under US$76.7 million), adding he hopes the initiative will be “revisited either by the Supreme Federal Court or by Congress” and be struck down. “This measure compromises future revenues. It affects the football payroll and the signings we made. It affects Olympic sports and tax incentives,” he said.
