Kinley Rasmus was sensational. She threw six scoreless innings, allowed only one hit and struck out eight, tying Mo'ne Davis' record for strikeouts by a girl in an LLWS game.
Then Alabama's offense exploded Saturday.
Phenix City eliminated California 12-2, a remarkable turnaround after being shut out in its opener.
Alabama was being offered with a payout of $800 for every $100 bet to win the whole thing.
Urijah Berklite doesn't have the national attention Rasmus has received, but statistically he was one of Alabama's best players coming into Williamsport. At the Southeast Regional he hit an extraordinary .636, recorded a hit in every game, drove in six runs, scored six and stole four bases.
Ryker Rasmus, Kinley's cousin, is Alabama's first baseman/left-handed pitcher. He pitched twice during regional competition and was Phenix City's primary first baseman.
West Chester's only Williamsport game was a 3-1 loss to New Jersey on Friday. But New Jersey has been a strong competitor in this year's LLWS.
Pennsylvania also entered Williamsport 3-0 in the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
5-foot-10 center fielder/pitcher Cole Warner is the Pennsylvania player who immediately jumps off the roster as one of the most dangerous in Monday night's game.
Betting on this year's Little League World Series is not without its controversy.
The Little League World Series issued the following statement to Gambling911.com:

Little League is a trusted place where children are learning the fundamentals of the games and all the important life lessons that come with having fun, celebrating teamwork, and playing with integrity, and no one should be exploiting the success and failures of children playing the game they love for their own personal gain."
