Ken Paxton Still Edging Out James Talarico But Race Tightens at Prediction Markets

Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico are the nominees in Texas's November 3, 2026 Senate race, with Paxton having defeated four-term incumbent John Cornyn in the Republican primary runoff after a Trump endorsement, according to Ballotpedia. Talarico holds a lead in recent polling and has significantly outraised Paxton, though Democrats have not won a Senate race in Texas since 1988, per The Hill.  Paxton was still coming in with a 51% chance at Kalshi while Talarico sat with a 49% chance.  But consider the margin was greater than 15 percentage points in Paxton's favor in mid-July, you can understand there is reason for the Dems to be celebrating.  Stay tuned.

The Senate betting had shifted the Democrats way, according to BetOnline Sports & Casino, with the blue team even edging favoritism earlier. But since Abdul El-Sayed's surprisingly narrow victory in the Michigan primary, the odds have shifted back towards the reds.  And this includes the GOP candidate for governor being favored in Wisconsin.
