Shelton, the -285 favorite to win here, is an American professional tennis player. He has been ranked world No. 5 in singles, by the ATP, achieved in November 2025, and No. 68 in doubles, attained in May 2024. He is the current No. 2 American singles player.
Shelton won 6-3, 7-5 over Jenson Brooksby in the second round of Montreal on Wednesday.
Coming off a quarterfinal exit in Washington D.C. last week, Shelton began his title defense in Canada with a straight-set win over his No. 74-ranked countryman that spanned one hour and 36 minutes. The 23-year-old American improves to 28-12 on the season.
