Southwest Airlines has announced it will begin flying nonstop flights between Knoxville, Tennessee and Las Vegas, Nevada.
The new flights will begin in March 13 of next year with the nonstop flights available on Saturdays and Sundays.
The route will give flyers an alternative to Allegiant Airlines, which already offers a direct route between Knoxville and Las Vegas.
Allegiant flies to Las Vegas nonstop on Mondays and Fridays currently.
Southwest started flying out of McGhee Tyson Airport last year.
The flights from Knoxville to Vegas will take about take about 4.5 hours, according to the airline’s booking website.
A direct trip starting the last week of March costs $573.80 (with basic fare selections) as of July 17. A one-stop departure and one-stop arrival with the same destination and selections costs $458.41.
Despite having regulated online sports betting, there are no land-based casinos in the Volunteer State. Tennessee also does not regulate online casino sites and, more recently, passed legislation prohibiting sweepstakes casinos from operating in the state.
Knoxville does offer easy access to Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, North Carolina, by automobile just over an hour-and-a-half drive.
