Keir Starmer Resigns - Latest Odds on His Replacement

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Monday he is stepping down as leader of the governing Labour Party and will leave office within weeks, scarcely two years after being elected in a landslide. Starmer says he will remain caretaker prime minister until a new Labour leader is chosen by the party. Starmer is the sixth prime minister in a decade to announce a premature departure. Starmer made the announcement after facing growing pressure to hand over to a new leader who can try to revive the government’s flagging fortunes. He led Labour to a landslide election victory in July 2024, but since then his popularity and that of the party have plummeted. Andy Burnham is the overwhelming favorite to become the next UK Prime Minister. Following Prime Minister Keir Starmer's resignation announcement, betting markets and political forecasters place the Greater Manchester Mayor’s odds of taking over at roughly 95%.

Dearborn Michigan Dentist Braces for the Worst as Plot Thickens in Twisted MGM Grand Kidnapping Case

The attorney for a Dearborn, Michigan dentist accused in a violent kidnapping plot claims his client was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Michael Troiano, Hamade’s lawyer, said in court Wednesday that his client, dentist Issa Hamade, 32;, has a squeaky clean record and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Naved Azim, of New York City, was beaten, strangled, gagged, and shoved in a closet in the horrific Wednesday incident that took place at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas police said. Along with Hamade, Ahmad Harb, 32; and Sobhi Sobh, 33, all from Michigan, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping, extortion, conspiracy, battery with intent to commit mayhem, robbery or grand larceny, and coercion with force or threats.

5 Injured at Hollywood, Florida Casino as Gazebo Collapses During Severe Storm

A rooftop structure collapsed onto patrons at a rooftop club at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood Saturday evening. Officers with the Seminole Police Department say a sudden gust of wind struck the structure in the outdoor area of the DAER Club, located on the roof of the casino, causing it to partially collapse. The National Weather Service had issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of northern Broward County with the potential for wind gusts up to 60 mph. Five individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
