Oregon may rank fourth from the bottom in terms of total year-end commercial gaming revenue for the 37 states that offer casinos, but that doesn't mean jackpots can't be won here.
Actually, make that two jackpots.
Wait! Make that two jackpots in a single night won by a husband and wife, celebrating their 18th anniversary no less.
“Janice F.” won a record $253,853 jackpot at Three Rivers Casino Resort in Florence. Her husband then won $10,904 without having to get up and find a new station.
“I am just so shocked,” said Janice, who was photographed holding a giant check for $253,853.30. “I’m still shocked! We just can’t believe it! My whole body felt numb.”
Janice’s record win came from the BSX Triple Diamond Progressive Jackpot earned while playing Three Card Poker. Her win reset the jackpot, only for her husband to win the new amount just hours later.
Rich Colton, Three Rivers Casino Resort marketing director, said that the win made history for Oregon’s gaming industry.
“We are thrilled for our guests and excited to celebrate such an incredible moment here at Three Rivers Casino Resort,” he said. “This was more than just a jackpot. This was a truly historic gaming moment for the state of Oregon. Watching the reactions from our guests and team members as this unfolded was incredible. The energy across the casino floor was something none of us will ever forget.”
Oregon’s gaming landscape is dominated by the state lottery and video lotteries — not big casino floors with thousands of machines and table games that generate huge revenue.
Three Rivers is a Tribal‑owned resort casino operated by the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua & Siuslaw Indians, with a sister property in Coos Bay.
The Florence location offers hundreds of slot machines and table games (blackjack, roulette, poker variants), plus a hotel, restaurants, entertainment, and golf.
But Florence ain't near nothing...except the beautiful Oregon coast.
The nearest population center to Florence is generally considered to be Eugene, Oregon's second most populous city, about 60–65 miles east via Oregon Route 126 through the Coast Range. The drive usually takes around 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on weather and traffic.
Reviews are mostly positive.
As for the BSX Triple Diamond Progressive Jackpot slot, equivalents are relatively easy to find online.
For a similar feel/theme rather than exact mechanics, these come close:
- Progressive blackjack tables with jackpot side bets
- Triple 7s / Super 7s blackjack side bets
- Progressive baccarat jackpot tables
- Retro-style progressive slots like Triple Diamond-themed games
For actual slot-style alternatives on sites like BetOnline, comparable progressive jackpot games include:
- Wheel of Fortune-style progressives
- MegaJackpots series games
- Diamond-themed progressive slots
