Yurav Premlall stuns golf world by winning the Catalunya Championship by 14 shots
His pre-tournament odds promised a US$60,000 payout for every US$100 bet

Are we looking at the next Tiger Woods? Inquiring minds want to know.
South African golf pro Yurav Premlall (ranked No. 598 in the world) just capped one of the most extraordinary performances in European tour history Sunday by winning the Catalunya Championship by 14 shots. This represented one of the biggest margin of victories ever.
In the 2000 U.S. Open, Tiger Woods had shattered the all-time record with a 15 stroke victory at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The payout for Premlall's win was US$60,000 for every US$100 bet pre-tournament. Those odds closed in around -2800 to -3500 after building the massive lead.
Betfair Exchange reportedly had Premlall available as high as 1000/1 before the tournament. That would have resulted in a US$100,000 payout on a US$100 bet.
It wasn't immediately known how many sportsbooks offered odds on Premlall and what payouts may have occurred.
Betway, Sportingbet and HollywoodBets are widely considered among the largest online bookmakers catering to South African sports gamblers.
Given the attention he’s getting, we will likely soon start seeing his futures odds appearing at BetUS for various top tournaments including:
- Open Championship odds
- 2026 Ryder Cup longshots
- DP World Tour season futures
- Major championship make/miss cut props
- South African Open / Sunshine Tour outrights
How it All Went Down
The 22-year-old Premlall made 10 birdies to shoot a second straight round of 9-under 63 this weekend and finish 28-under par for the tournament.
Premlall's first win on the tour came in a season when he'd missed the cut in four of his eight appearances and not had a top-30 finish.
"I can't give myself enough credit today and I'm not really a person to say that -- it was probably the most complete performance I've ever put through," he said.
By tapping in at the par-5 last hole, Premlall added a 33rd birdie over his four rounds of 70-64-63-63.
Fellow South African Shaun Norris shot 68 and was second on 14 under.
