A 58-year-old Reno resident, Robert Kindell, was arrested earlier this week by detectives with the Regional Crime Suppression Unit and the Repeat Offender Program, according to a release from the Reno Police Department.
He is charged with robbing two local casinos as well as two Walmarts.
Kindell was apprehended following an investigation into incidents spanning March and April involving over $10,000 in losses. The Reno Police Department’s Regional Crime Suppression Unit conducted the investigation. He is accused of most recently robbing the Tamarack Casino (April 19) in broad daylight, robbing the Atlantis (April 1), and two Walmart locations (March 4, April 4).
In the most recent incident at the Tamarack Casino, patrons say the suspect sprayed some type of chemical into the air as he exited the venue. Some customers complained of trouble breathing. That robbery made headlines on the pages of Gambling911.com.
Each of the robberies involved the use of a gun and pepper spray. The total reported loss from the robberies exceeds $10,000.
Kindell reportedly wore various disguises, including wigs and masks, to conceal his identity while committed his alleged crimes.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from within the casinos and carried out search warrants and located evidence believed to be connected to the robberies, including cash, disguises, and guns.
Police say Kindell has a lengthy criminal history, including prior robbery-related offenses involving casinos and banks.
