The first fight for UFC 328 in Newark has been reported as Sean Strickland vs Khamzat Chimaev in a middleweight clash.

The highly anticipated middleweight matchup between Chimaev and Strickland is expected to be part of UFC 328 on May 9, 2026, in Newark, NJ.

Strickland aims to hand Chimaev his first loss.

The oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag have opened odds with Khamzat as a big favorite.

“Whoever is managing Strickland’s schedule needs to cancel all his podcast recordings after May 9 because you can’t talk into a mic with a wired shut jaw,” Russian sports journalist Adam Zubayraev posted on X.

That comes after Strickland shared a video on his Instagram of a recent dive weekend he took part in.

“It’s been a fun dive weekend but back to work. Terrorist to fight, belts to be won,” Strickland captioned the post.
