USA World Baseball Classic

Mark DeRosa can thank the Italian World Baseball Classic team for making his epic blunder nothing more than a footnote.

Italy eliminated Mexico with a 9-1 shellacking which kept the US team alive and once again the favorites at BetOnline.ag to win the WBC.

The Dominican Republic was briefly the favorite on Wednesday following Italy's shock win over USA the night prior.

The 8-6 defeat left the U.S. team with a 3-1 record at the end of its pool schedule. Mexico and Italy wrapped up Pool B play Wednesday night.

Aaron Judge, who struck out in the ninth inning to end it Tuesday night, expressed disappointment that the team failed to take care of business against Italy.

“It’s the toughest thing,” he said. “You always like having your destiny in your own hands and we had it right in front of us and Italy came out swinging.”
