Bettorsworld.com co-founder Brian Georgia has been released from a Connecticut hospital where he has been recovering from a heart attack, Gambling911.com has learned.

Internet pioneer Georgia, along with a business partner, Jeff Brown, created the Net's first sports wagering portal, Bettor's World (www.bettorsworld.com), in the mid 1990s.

Their successful prototype for a sports betting-themed portal has since been copied by numerous competitors.

(DISCLAIMER: One of Bettor's World's first writers was a young Chris "Sting" Costigan, who would later go on to create his own website, Gambling911.com.)

Last month, Georgia, who lives in Waterbury, Connecticut, USA, was taken to a Waterbury hospital after suffering a severe heart attack.

Things were touch-and-go for several weeks, with family members worried he might not make it.

He made a remarkable recovery, however.

He spent more than a month in the hospital recovering before his release a few days ago.

In a story about Georgia posted earlier this month, Gambling911.com reported that Georgia had a website called Bettor's World and Brown had one called Bookie's Hell and they merged the sites into one, which retained the Bettor's World name.

Not quite right.

Brown contacted Gambling911.com after that story ran to set the record straight: Georgia's site was called Bookie's Hell and Brown's site was called Oddswiz; they merged the sites into one called Bettor's World.

Thanks for the correction, Jeff.

It's nice to see that Gambling 911's competitors keep such a close eye on Gambling 911.

(Brown now runs Bettor's World by himself, having bought out Georgia about eight years ago.)
